How do I get permanent makeup certified?
As per the Occupational and Safety Health Administration (OSHA), to be permanent makeup certified you must first receive safety and hygiene training. After that the student must undertake and complete Permanent Makeup Training from their school of choice. After completion from the course and receiving your certificate of completion you will need to apply for a permanent makeup license with your states local health department.
How much does permanent makeup training training cost?
In person permanent makeup training can cost anywhere from $2500 - $7500. Every school has their own training schedule and course structure.
Where do permanent makeup artists work?
As a certified permanent makeup artist, you have the option of setting up your clinic and business where you can charge anything from $250-$1250 for a single session. This depends on the service being provided and your skill set and expertise. In addition, as a permanent makeup professional you can work with plastic surgeons, cosmetics dentists and in spas that offer medicinal treatments.
Do you have to be an esthetician to do permanent makeup?
No, you do not need to be an esthetician to become a permanent makeup artist.
How do you teach?
You will start from the basics and color theory, then work on technique and service and finally branding and business. You have the option of taking the course alone or adding on the complete training kit to practice your coursework at home.
